2018 Folk Camp Info Packet

This summer, “travel the world” with the magic and music of international folk dancing! Enjoy three days of vigorous dancing, beautiful music, and imaginative instruction! Learn dances from a variety of world cultures. Whether you’re a seasoned dancer or just eager to perform some of the world’s most exciting dances, you’ll learn skills at this camp that will enhance every aspect of your life! The fun, lively movements of folk dancing will increase your balance, agility, strength, and coordination while improving your awareness of the cultures in current world events.

Broaden your dance experience socially, culturally, and technically by performing dances that reach through the ages. Whether you have been to a BYU dance camp in the past or this is your first year, you will enjoy this truly unique and memorable experience.

Directors

Becki Love

 

 

 

Becki Love received her BA in dance education from BYU and taught dance in the public schools before returning to BYU as the codirector of the International Folk Dance Camp. While a student at BYU, Becki performed and toured extensively with the International Folk Dance Ensemble. Currently, she is an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Dance at BYU.


Kathleen Sheffield is a member of the BYU Modern Dance faculty. She is also the director of the BYU Children and Teens' Creative Dance Program. Kathleen enjoys working with dancers of all ages. She focuses on building sound technical dancers while nurturing the individual spirit of each student. Her most recent work was seen as a part of the “Remembering the Prophet Joseph Smith” spectacular commemorating Joseph Smith's 200th birthday and the “Light of the World” production celebrating the 2002 Winter Olympics.

Registration Notes

  • Full tuition is due at the time of registration. No deposits will be accepted.
  • Information packets with updated check–in times will be available on our website two to four weeks before the workshop begins.
  • A full refund (minus $25 nonrefundable) will be granted to all cancellations requested by May 18, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. (one month before the workshop begins). No food/housing refunds are available after this date, though partial refunds for the workshop may be available on a case-by-case basis.
